I met David in 2022, during my freshman year of college, and we formed a close friendship after living together for a year. In 2023, I started photographing whatever new escapade he was working on, whether it be trying to get a shopping cart registered as a vehicle, learning to breathe fire, designing a pinball machine, or building a didgeridoo. I grew to value his free and spontaneous approach to life, how each of his creations is imbued with a unique aspect of his life and personality. In David, I see a youthful energy that refuses to die, an energy that fills me with hope, balanced with the anxieties and fears we face regularly as we grow up and navigate life.
